To a question Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said at that stage he could not divulge as to what proposed amendments would be, but it would be for the first time in the history of Pakistan that amendments would be made in the constitution of Pakistan on the recommendation of a committee.
When asked whether the committee's recommendations also includes the concurrent list where under maximum provincial autonomy has been hinted at, Chaudhry Shujaat said the concurrent list would not be there in toto. However, there would occur a lot.
The PML President said people of Balochistan could not even imagine regarding the package they had prepared as to what they were going to give them. He said that would wipe out the drum beating about sense of deprivation in Balochistan.
When questioned as to why deadlock occurred in dialogue with Baloch nationalists, the PML Chief said one reason was the Sui incident.
To a question as to when this deadlock will end, Chaudhry Shujaat said it would be over when he would come into contact. He said he was not in contact with Nawab Akbar Bugti. However, Illahi Bux Soomro had contact with him and he had requested him to play his role and tell the Baloch leaders to trust on the committee's recommendations.
He said it was possible he might getup right then and go to meet Akbar Bugti. He questioned the journalists whether Nawab Akbar Bugti would not meet him.
His attention was drawn to the statement of Nawab Akbar Bugti that parliamentary Committee was not empowered.
Chaudhry Shujaat said there was nothing of the sort and Nawab Saheb had not spoken any such thing.
He said that was not his, but committee of entire House which was supported by all the parties and had nominated their representatives and they all co-operated with the Committee.
Chaudhry Shujaat said at that stage certain elements wanted that things should not move ahead and situation should spoil. However, he who wanted to take the situation with direction.
Those elements did not want the credit of solution to Balochistan issue should go to Parliamentary Committee.
However, whatever be the situation, the committee would get its recommendations implemented and that would include the consent of Nawab Akbar Bugti, Attaullah Mengal and others.
"If we wanted to have the credit, we would have announced our recommendations on TV," Chaudhry Shujaat told newsmen.
He referred to his meetings with Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi and Illahi Bux Soomro and said he had told them to use their influence and tell the Baloch leaders to believe the committee's recommendations.
He said an attempt was made to cover up the case of Dr Shazia Khalid, but the case was registered against three PPL officials who were arrested. He assured should anyone, belonging to any organisation, was found involved in that case, the government would certainly punish him.
When asked whether the establishment of Cantonment Sui would not give rise to tension and cause deadlock, Chaudhry Shujaat said it was also an issue, but it had to be seen what cantonment meant to people. He said cantonment in Sui was being established only for the protection of gas installations, the army would not go into entire area, but would be restricted to the security of gas installations only.
